Monday, April 30th, 2012: 26-year-old Brent Sargent sent shock waves through Classic Baseball Union last week with an eye-popping performance that brought him the Landis League Player of the Week Award.
A newcomer to the league, Sargent made the establishment sit up and take notice, punishing opposing pitchers with a .407 average, 11 hits in 27 at-bats, 5 home runs and 10 runs batted in.
Where the Sioux Falls Uber Giraffes second baseman goes from here, only the baseball gods know for sure, but Sargent certainly made his mark last week.
So far this season Sargent has 6 home runs and a .319 batting average. |

Monday, April 30th, 2012: It's always a thrill for fans of the team and students of the game alike when a superstar in the making shows what he's got. Santiago López, the Redbank Bandits 25-year-old first baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Giamatti League Player of the Week honors.
He ripped 13 hits in 28 at-bats, compiling a .464 average with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs.
A look at his season totals shows López with 7 home runs, .321 BA, .385 OBP, 18 RBIs and 19 runs scored. |
 | Wild Burros Closer Dávila Injured
Sunday, April 29th, 2012: The Wild Burros Alejandro Dávila was injured throwing a pitch during today's game against the Portland Lions. The team doctor expects the closer to miss 3 months with a ruptured finger tendon. No roster changes were announced by team officials.
Dávila has worked 15.1 innings in 12 relief appearances thus far this season and picked up 3 saves. He has dished out 16 strikeouts and walked 4 with a 0-3 mark and a 4.11 ERA. |
